Dash Authority, L.L.C. Privacy Policy Last Updated: February 20, 2026

Dash Authority, L.L.C. (“Dash Authority,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, create an account, enroll in our online food handler, food manager, or alcohol server certification courses, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, date of birth
  • Social Security Number (SSN): We may collect your full Social Security Number or the last four digits of your SSN only when it is legally required by a specific state government agency for certain certifications (primarily certain Food Protection Manager programs). This information is collected temporarily and solely for identity verification and mandatory submission to that state regulatory agency. Once the SSN has been successfully submitted to the state agency and we receive confirmation of receipt, we immediately and permanently delete it from all of our systems and records and do not retain any copy.
  • Account information: username, password, certification history
  • Payment information (processed securely by third-party providers such as Stripe; we do not store full credit card numbers)
  • Course-related data: answers to quizzes, progress, completion records, and certificate details

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, time spent, and interaction data
  • Cookies and tracking technologies (see Section 5 below)

Information from Third Parties

  • Verification data from state agencies or employers (when you authorize sharing of your certificate)
  • Analytics providers or advertising partners

We treat Social Security Numbers as highly sensitive personal information and apply enhanced security protections at all times.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, deliver, and verify your state-approved certifications, including temporarily submitting required SSN data to the appropriate state agency, after which it is immediately and permanently deleted from our records
  • Perform identity verification and prevent fraud
  • Process payments and issue instant digital certificates
  • Send service-related communications (receipts, reminders for expiring certificates, progress updates)
  • Improve and personalize the learning experience
  • Respond to customer support requests
  • Analyze usage trends and optimize the Services
  • Send marketing communications (only with your consent or as permitted by law; easy opt-out always available)
  • Comply with legal obligations, including reporting to regulatory bodies when required by state law

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with:

  • Service providers: hosting, payment processors, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tools — all under strict confidentiality agreements
  • State agencies or regulators: only as required for certification validity or compliance (including SSN where mandated by law). SSN is shared solely for the required submission; once successfully transmitted and confirmed, it is immediately and permanently deleted from Dash Authority’s systems and is not retained.
  • Employers or verifiers: certificate status and completion details when you or your employer explicitly requests verification
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
  • Legal requirements: to comply with subpoenas, court orders, or applicable law

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (encryption, secure servers, access controls, and enhanced protections for any temporary sensitive data such as SSN) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, however. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by law.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use essential cookies for site functionality, analytics cookies (to understand usage), and advertising cookies (for relevant offers). You can manage preferences through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information
  • Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link in every email)
  • Opt out of targeted advertising or “sale” of data (we do not sell data)
  • Limit use of sensitive data
  • Appeal decisions

California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other state residents: submit requests to [email protected]. We respond within required timeframes and do not discriminate for exercising rights.

You may also delete your account directly from your dashboard.

When you request access to your data, we may redact highly sensitive information such as Social Security Numbers for security reasons and will clearly describe any redaction.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or 16 in some states). If we learn we have collected such data, we will delete it.
